Hello all! A little bit about us. We are on the verge of opening a new venue. It’s a recast pub on a leafy street between Dalston and Islington, we have divided the space into a wine bar and a coffee shop with a really nice garden.

It’s a place to listen to records, drink fairly priced wine and enjoy a coffee. It’s a sun-drenched (whenever the sun shines) and expansive space with high ceilings, so it makes for a lovely daytime spot! We’ll be serving excellent coffee with a focus on pour overs and guest roasters from across the UK and Europe.

We are looking for a number of people to join our founding team. This job description is for a Barista, but if you feel like this isn’t completely you and are still keen to work with us, then shoot us a message with your resume and we’ll get back to you.

As Barista you will be front and centre of our daily coffee operations and your interactions with guests will be key to their experience. You will have a passion for specialty coffee and be keen to develop your knowledge within an experienced and passionate team. You will have the opportunity to input on our coffee program from the start. You need to be a morning person because you’ll be opening doors on the days that you work.

We are keen to build a team with a diverse range of experiences and interests. The business is multifaceted and will launch with many side roles with potential to develop into full-time positions. If you have interests in wine, music, the arts, events, social media, design, or really anything not listed here then let us know in your application! Responsibilities:

  1. Coffee Preparation and Service: - Welcome guests on entry and ensure an excellent guest experience throughout their stay. - Prepare and serve coffee beverages to the highest standards, utilising various brewing methods as needed. - Ensure consistency in coffee quality, taste, and presentation, and monitor guest feedback to drive continuous improvement. - Dial in the coffee equipment according to recipe at the start of the day, and maintain throughout the service period. - Keep the guest areas clean and tidy, clearing and wiping tables as you go.

Working Practices - Set up the workspace at the start of the day and keep it clean and organised throughout service. - Keep the coffee equipment clean throughout service, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to health and safety standards. - Ensure the company’s opening and closing checklists, cleaning schedules, and other SOPs are adhered to. - Adhere to the business’s recycling and waste management systems.

  3. Inventory Management - Keep wastage to a minimum. - Monitor stock of coffee, milk, disposables, cleaning products, and other items necessary to the coffee shop operations, and report when stock is running low. - Accept and put away deliveries as soon as practicable, maintaining a tidy, clean and safe shop floor and stock area.

  4. Training and Development: - Commit to constantly improving your coffee skills, knowledge, brewing techniques, and customer service. - Attend any training as required.
